Alberta Jayne Payne, 90, of Mt. Zion, IL passed away on Friday (Aug. 27, 2010) in her residence.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday (Aug. 31, 2010) at Dawson & Wikoff West Wood Street Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday (Aug. 30, 2010). Mrs. Payne was born on October 25, 1919 in Decatur, IL, the daughter of Carl William and Betty Ruth (Barth) Draper. She worked for Dr. John J. Hopkins and was a homemaker. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She married Robert Lee Payne on September 24, 1941. He preceded her in death on November 11, 2006.
Surviving are her children: Michael (Judi) Payne of The Villages, FL, Patricia (Tom) Schroat of Decatur, IL, John (Sandy) Payne of Decatur, IL,; six grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; sister-in-law: Opal Draper of Decatur, IL; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother: Carl Draper, two grandsons: Johnny and Robert Thomas.
